This is an e-mail I received from Eugene Reisfield on October 6, 2012 briefly explaining his Navy service: My name is Gene Reisfield and I amHackensack High School class of 1962. I am a Vietnam veteran having served my active duty 1967 – 1968 in the Navy aboard the USS Newport News (CA-148). This is a heavy cruiser, home ported in Norfolk, Va., and known as the “Gray Ghost from the East Coast” because even though the ship was 717 feet long, we never took a direct hit from enemy fire.
